About DEER

As an FWO project, DEER aims to provide specific recommendations on applicable policy instruments to implement demand-side measures in the realms of mobility and residential home heating and cooling (i.e. thermal comfort) in Flanders, Belgium. These measures aim to maintain consumption levels within the environmental and social boundaries of sustainable consumption corridors. The impact of the demand-side measures and policy instruments will be assessed from both environmental and socio-economic perspectives.

We define demand-side mitigation options or solutions as classes of actions that individuals can undertake to lower their carbon and material footprint. Policy instruments are defined as the options available to policy-makers to promote or enforce those changes.
